In 2024 I donated a walking tour of New York City movie locations to a charity auction mounted by Cinema for Gaza, which ultimately raised more than $300,000 for Medical Aid for Palestinians.

The tour, drawn from my book and additional research, used movies by Martin Scorsese, William Friedkin, Abel Ferrara, Brian De Palma, Jonathan Demme, Sara Driver, and many others as jumping-off points to explore the urban and cinematic lore of the Meatpacking District, the Village, SoHo, and beyond.

I would love to offer this tour to any individual or group who make a new donation of at least $300 (for individuals and couples), $500 (for groups of 3 to 5), or $750 (for groups of 6 to 8) to Medical Aid for Palestinians. If there is a different charity that you feel more urgently demands your support, I’m certainly open to it.

The tour is ideal for medium-heavy to extreme cinephiles and New York heads, and takes around 4 hours including a break for lunch, though the knowledge level, time commitment, and geographic area and films covered may be customized if you have specific areas of interest.
